| Telefunken S500 and S600 Turn Tables | ||||

STOP AMPUTATIONS - STOP KILLING THEM! I have seen many of these units offered on ebay without their arms! These turn tables are great. Let them rotate! If you only want the arm, look for the Telefunken Stereo Console with built-in S500. Click here to see a conversion of the Ortofon arm.

Telefunken S-500 and S-600 The chassis of this two models are absolutely the same, but the S600 has the following features: - black color (I even prefer silver...) - the small diamond light which indicates when the cartridge is on the beginning of 30cm or 17cm record (see this on the video - clicking on the picture left) - the better Shure V15 III cartridge Both models sound great. IMHO the standard Thorens models from these period (TD160 or TD146) are not better! |

Features and Quality Besides the nice working and well known Ortofon tone arm we find the following: - DC regulated motor - 2.4kgs die cast zinc platter - the platter is precisely balanced (you will find these holes in the Thorens TD-124 and early TD-125) and made by Hella (still supplier for Mercedes-Benz) - sub chassis construction, which still works nice after more than 35 years - auto shut off with light sensor |

Mods and Tweaks - check if the anti skating magnet is still properly fixed. ALL units I saw need some glue here (left) - if the unit does not work properly, so check the electrolytic caps (left below) - remove the two screws from the lift and the metal plate. Then remove the raisine and replace it with lubricant - if fuse blows, check the transparent foil cap parallel to the mains connector ("Entstörkondensator", not pictured) - check the springs and add RCA jacks! |
