Thousands of CSV13s and
CSV60s have been sold ... and thousands of CSV60s have blown up. They get
extremely hot. Where did they leave their philosophy that the design has to
follow the function?
Anyway, both models
sound bad. Yes: BAD. They have a permanent "loudness" function which
leads to a "ultra-UN-linear" frequency response. The preamp section (mounted
on printed circuit boards) is (maybe) the worst I know.
The ouptput tubes (EL84
in the CSV13) use fixed
bias and (thank god!) are not mounted on the PCB. PL504 output tubes in the
CSV60? Oh my god. These are TV tubes.
Be glad if you own the
smaller CSV13 and use the power amp section only.
